OCE has long been a supporter of the Omokoroa Bowling Club and has sponsored the bottom green at the club since 2001. OCE staff also participate at the club, their social bowling team in its second season competing in the local twilight tournament.
A name like the “OCE Hammers” suggest that while their team may be social, they are serious about giving their opponents at the Omokoroa Bowling Club a hammering.
The OCE Hammers are Sales Manager Emma, Tim the builder, gardener Rob, Estate Manager, Kevin and Tania who fosters good relationships. Tim has bowls in his blood. His father, an avid bowler (and golfer), ended his days on the OCE green – doing what he loved most, no doubt.
That the team has coaches is even more evidence that the Hammers are on a mission. OCE residents, Ross and June Wood, hone the team’s skills and support enthusiastically from the side lines.
However, serious action does not mean acting seriously! It is obvious OCE Hammers and everyone at the Omokoroa Bowling Club enjoy it hugely. What better time than twilight for a little conviviality! And what an awesome view for enjoying a sausage and camaraderie beside the Pohutukawa trees with the beautiful harbour backdrop.
